BRITTOLI is the most recent collection from Bullhide Hats, ALLURE is a Fashion Genuine Panama hat, with a 4 3/4"" classic teardrop crown fedora, 2 3/4"" brim. It has a self colored grosgrain band with flat Bow. Brittoli Panama Hats are hand wove exclusive in the Andes Mountains of America using fiber of “Paja Toquilla” straw. The Carludovica Palmata Plant whose leaves provide this natural straw, takes over three years to reach full maturity. The leaves are then cut by hand, bundled and transported to the harvester’s villages, usually by horse or donkey. The toquilla leaves are first split or torn into thin filaments or straw and then boiled or “cooked” before being dried-bleached by the sun. The bundles of straw are then transported and sold to the weavers. Weaving is largely a cottage industry, which take place in the villages close to the coastal plantations or in the Andes Mountains.
